Flash: The Portable Sun With Raul Touzon

One of the most useful tools to take your photography and creativity to the next level is learning how to use your external flash unit, the one Raul Touzon likes to call “The Portable Sun”. Participants in this workshop learn how to use off-camera flash in the field to photograph, nature, people and everyday life in an easy and fun way. We practice fill flash, remote flash operation (one and multiple units) and how to mix different light sources to produce stunning images. In addition you will learn how to shoot and produce stunning panoramas using your off-camera strobes.

This workshop will be held at Electric Avenue at 259 East Flagler Street. We begin each day by editing and critiquing the previous day’s photographs followed by highly visual lectures and demonstrations. On both days, the classroom lecture will be followed by photo shoots in which participants will separate into two or three groups to practice what they have learned. Saturday afternoon’s shoot will be on the rooftop of Electric Avenue and shot against the backdrop of the downtown skyline and the setting sun. Sunday’s afternoon shoot will be among the graffiti painted walls of Wynwood a short drive away. Both photo shoots will include professional and student dancers and models. While there is no additional charge for the models, each participant is required to provide at least two full resolution images for the models to use in their portfolio.

Electric Avenue is conveniently located one block from a Metromover station. Participants will receive an email with detailed directions to Electric Avenue by car and by Metrorail/Metromover.
