- DESCRIPTION AND SETTINGS : Shot at Metrozoo in July, with Poincianas in bloom. Nikon D750, 300mm lens, f8 in A-priority, 1/200. King of the Beasts enjoying some shade.
- Judge's Critique: The idea of portraying the mighty lion under fragile flowers is tempting. However, the flowers are too far from the animal forcing a wider angle. With that, depth-of-field is compromised and the main focus of the photo gets lost. The lion is in such good position, a closer shot of the animal with an out-of-focus background would probably be more engaging.
