Changes in Groups A & B for 2018-2019

As many of the members of Kendall Camera Club already know, in some of the monthly Photo Challenges, there has been an issue in the past with few or no photographers in Group B submitting photos. It seems that when new members join in Group B, for a while we have a good number of submissions. Since it requires only 35 bonus points to be moved from Group B to Group A, members are soon promoted to Group A. We then return to the same issue of little or no entries in Group B. Additionally, while the main purpose of the Photo Challenge is to improve photography skills via the judges’ comments, members of Group A sometimes feel left out of the awards monthly and at the end of the year.

The executive committee has made some changes for the 2018-2019 Photo Challenge Year. We have changed the descriptions of Group A and Group B to read as follows:

Group A: Primarily consisting, but not limited to, advanced, semi-professional, and professional photographers

Group B: To consist of upper-intermediate, intermediate, hobbyist, and beginning photographers.

(we have moved the description of “upper intermediate” from Group A to Group B.)

In accordance with these changes, the executive committee will consider the requests of photographers wishing to move from Group A to Group B for the coming year. We hope that with this change in the group descriptions we can achieve a balanced number of photographers in each group. Additionally, we are increasing the number of bonus points required for photographs before they are promoted to Group A by the Photo Challenge Committee.
